Keep this in mind, revive the tradition, make yachting clear and accessible - the mission that was at the heart of the idea of Yacht Centre "Admiral Ushakov creation", established in Volgodonsk in 2008.
A team of not indifferent people - designers, engineers, yacht captains and people who share their ideas joined together to make yachting a full family vacation, a mean of physical and spiritual healing of the society.
At the beginning there was an idea: from the Brownian yachting to a slim Project.
YC "Admiral Ushakov" was not born at one day or month - the concept was developing for several years. All this time the natives of UP SO "Russian Ocean Sailing Club» (WWW.ROSC.RU) accumulated experience of local projects realization, at the same time LLC «RIDEL» company conducted market research of yachting market in Europe and Russia. Pretty soon a working group was formed as well as developed an understanding of what and how to do, that yachting in Russia should become a mass phenomenon, as throughout the World, that otherwise it is impossible to get good results either in sailing in general or in the Olympic classes or in the ocean.
In the times of figure skating and hockey popularity, cross-country skiing allowed Russian teams to take the gold in worldwide competitions. In sailing, not minimizing the merits of our champions, we have an example of France, where Eric Tabarli became an "icebreaker" in the development of yachting. Thanks to his victory in races across the Atlantic in 1964 and further success, the sails concept has entered almost to every French family, and together with it the family yacht. For Russian economic conditions such a breakthrough was virtually impossible until recently. The main barriers were an imperfection of the legislative framework, lack of yachting tourism infrastructure in inland water-ways, high cost of imported yachts as well as considerable expenditure on their maintenance.
What can be done in such circumstances? Legislator from his part can overcome this barrier in terms of simplifying of sailing yachts registration and land giving for the marina, a potential investor - to invest to their construction, a businessman - to organize production of high quality affordable national yachts, an owner of parking lot - lower prices for their services. Gradually by joint effort, using an experience of yachting veterans, we can instill love to the sails, pull up a sailing culture and attract a new wave of romantics to yachting, making yachting a mass phenomenon such a way.
А yacht today - is, first of all, an element of free choice, an instrument of the World knowledge and yourself in this World. Generally, yachting - is a new quality of life, because is raising holistic spiritually healthy individuals. And the principle "change yourself and the World around you will change" is fully applied here.
Left to legislators to change the world of laws, businessmen developed the concept of Yacht Centre "Admiral Ushakov" based on own production of sailing yachts and catamarans with subsequent maintenance of boats and customers support in becoming a yachtsman. A Unique contribution to this idea was made by three partners - French company GORIMPEX (WWW.GORIMPEX.RU) in the person of the head of its Russian office Victor Volikov, Alexey Ushakov who was for many years the head of the Russian Ocean Sailing Club and Master "golden hands" Alexander Cherezov from Volgodonsk. So in 2008 the company Yacht Center "Admiral Ushakov" was born.

The project in details was born in the depths of group of companies «RIDEL» (WWW.RIDEL.RU), specializing in consulting services. The initial production base of Yacht Centre was organized by a Solo owner Alexander Cherezov (Volgodonsk) - famous Russian manufacturer of masts, hull fittings and boats rigging, he also organized the design bureau. The project was supported and headed by French company GORIMPEX, which promotes sport industry and build mountain resorts in Russia. А key to success was the fact that the project joined people in love with the sea and sailing, who have given them many years of their life.
The ideologist of the project is a representative of legendary Admiral Fyodor Ushakov genus - a yachtsman and captain Alexey B. Ushakov, who was for many years the Chairman of Solo owner UP SO «ROSC» and the head of GC «RIDEL». A graduate of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, a nuclear physicist, he worked for many years in the field of nuclear energy, radiation safety and ecology. In 1986-1988 by occupation visited Chernobyl Later graduated from the Soviet-American School of Business in Marketing field and Russian Academy of Entrepreneurship, was engaged in various types of business. Since 2003 Alexey B. Ushakov has been engaged in business consulting, and today, accumulated all his previous experience and put it to Yacht Center, named after the legendary Admiral.
Alexander Cherezov - a yachtsman with an experience and also an organizer of the production. His company was as a sturdy "foundation" for the erection of all parts of the project. He is known in Russia as manufacturer of masts, standing rigging, hull fittings, stainless steel products.
High level of professionalism is defined not only by love of yachting and the sea, but also experience in Minatom production, where he was the best welder and technologist, instructor. He worked in Germany, polishing up yachts builder skills, worked in Russia in a few specialized cooperatives. Therefore at the time of his own enterprise creation Cherezov knew the ropes in matters of management. Good knowledge of human psychology has helped Alexander to hire and train people. Cherezov has become the engine of the Project.
Like the others, Victor Volikov - the head of the Russian office of the French company GORIMPEX was attracted to participation in the project by love of yachting, family and children whom he has six, and of course of racing. In 2007 Victor became the man of the year in the development of Russian sport industry. Constant participant and multiple winner of jeep races and participant of Dakar 2009, Russian Champion of rally-raids, not a novice in the field of sailing, being at the same time the head of ski resorts company-builder, Victor decided to start developing massive yachting as an instrument of healing people and to promote it as a lifestyle. Thus, he did not simply diversify his business, but also expanded possibility of citizens of the Russian Federation in sports, in knowledge of the country and the world.
All roads lead to Volgodonsk.
The most serious demands were placed on selection of future YC location place. The place was supposed to combine good economic prospects of the region development, preserved yachting traditions, Youth sport school or Young Sailors Club, good geographical location relative to inland water-ways, as well as loyalty of government agencies and local communities. Volgodonsk (Rostov region) was selected as such geographical point on the map.
This city locates on Tsimlyansk reservoir just before Gateways of the largest shipping channel - Lenin channel, which joins five seas - the Black, Azov, White, Caspian and Baltic. Many boats going to Russia by southern water way and boats carrying cruise tours by the Volga River to the south - to the Azov and Black Seas - stay in Volgodonsk Yacht Club. This makes the city especially valuable for rest, storage of yachts and their repair. There are all conditions for big regattas of all levels, good yachting tradition.
Presence in the city such large enterprises as Atommash, Volgodonsk nuclear power plants, metal and wood processing plants, furniture plants, provides the region with financial and human resources. There are plans to launch a second, construct the third and fourth power generating units in the near future. This will give an additional impulse to economic development of the region.
In addition, a good potential of qualified personnel remained in Volgodonsk. The city is strong at yachting school, it has many famous sailors who were members of the USSR national team and are members of the Russian team at the moment. By the time of the investors arrival a small production and repair of yachts had already been established there.
"Green light" to the projects was given by the community organizations and City Administration: memory of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov is sacredly honored in Volgodonsk, there are sails at the emblem of the city. The project is socially significant for the region and was immediately supported by the Club of veteran submariners, headed by Yuri Vasilyevich Lebedev, Volgodonsk Orthodox parish with Father Superior Sergius as well as administration of Volgodonsk and personally Mayor Victor Alexandrovich Firsov.
Production of a Dream: Yachts ELECTRA.
Everyone who comes in a sail now wants just go on yacht, to travel and relax on water rather than be engage in repair and equipping of the yacht, "debugging or alteration for yourself", i.e. there is a desire to get fully prepared for a campaign yacht. To be always aware of trends of World and Russia yacht building, specialists of the company regularly visit exhibitions and shipyards in Europe and in Russia, communicate to Russian and foreign yachtsmen. Therefore, the production process is built on the basis of the experience, views of many yachtsmen, use of modern technologies, materials and foreign components.
Beginning the production Yacht Center first of all developed an original design of Micro class yacht. Thus ELECTRA 18 was born. It was completely designed using 3D computer modeling by means of special engineering programs.
MICRO - the most democratic class of yachts, giving the owners huge advantages. These yachts were planned by the French as "the first family cruiser" - "an entry ticket" to the cruise sailing. One of major advantages of such kind of boats - an opportunity to transport them on a car trailer behind a car. This allows delivering the yacht to any place - whether for storage or for launching. Designers of the Yacht Centre have created a new product in the class - a beautiful, eco-friendly, comfortable, mobile, equipped with all necessary equipment yacht. This boat is suitable for long trips not just for race on weekends. Yacht ELECTRA 18 - is a mass product, able to give a family of 2-4 people comfort, reliability and safety. Consumer properties of ELEKTRA18 entirely fit the concept «A Boat for LIFE AND TRAVEL».
Marine Cruiser ELECTRA 43 of maximum comfort, quality and packaging is also designed in Yacht Center. There is a high speed development of catamaran Arcturus 33, yacht ELECTRA 32 in board performance, mast and fittings are made.
Boats, manufactured in Volgodonsk, will have a lot of features and modifications. For example, ELECTRA 18 will be released in keel and board (straight and turning) performance, it has a bowsprit. There are many options, although the basic equipment includes all the necessary.
Today the most important thing for the buyer is that Electra 18 has passed an international certification for compliance to Micro class and operation safety, receiving of the European quality certification is near completion - Certification is carried out by Dutch specialists. All this will allow owners of the yachts to register their boats in the registration bodies easily, and manufacturing companies to sell them on the European market.

Realizing high responsibility to clients YC "Admiral Ushakov" beside the production has created a Technical Centre for maintenance and repair of yachts and catamarans - TC "Admiral Ushakov". As parts of TC it is planned to build heated boathouses for storage and repair of yachts, open yachting equipment shop, recreate the Yacht Club as a place of yachtsmen communicatio and upgrade berthing facilities. YC has already entered into contracts for exclusive supply of equipment and components with European partners. In addition, we plan to take part in inland water-ways infrastructure development, in particular, to begin with Tsimlyansk reservoir and Volgodonsk, where a modern yacht port "Admiral Ushakov" is supposed to be build.

In particular, already today YC took over a part of cares on yachts repairs of Youth sport school. Furthermore "Admiral Ushakov" Cup regatta will be established which is expected to turn eventually into an international sailing festival. During the Cup everyone as well as professionals will be able to drive yachts produced in YC at match system. The races will be held both in the area of the city and at Tsimlyansk reservoir on cruising route.
In prospect - creation of a Yacht Schools and a School of Junior Seaman and at their base Sailing Sport Center of Water Sports. If there is sufficient fleet the Sailing Sports Center will make yachting one of the major sports for Volgodonsk families, sailing will be their leisure time, impetus for life and success. Today this is a stabilizing factor in the economy of any region. These are the real steps of the struggle for a healthy lifestyle. Such an approach is able to resist drinking and drug abuse, especially among young people. Blessing of Russian Orthodox Church is also important.
Famous saying "What do you call a boat, so it will float" is especially appropriate for Yacht Centre project. Therefore it is symbolic is that YC bears the name of a famous Admiral who has not lost a single ship or a single battle. Memory of Admiral Fyodor Ushakov- canonized saint of the Russian Orthodox Church is sacredly honored in Volgodonsk. Here is a monument to the Naval commander, a chapel in honor of Fyodor Ushakov and soon a construction of the Nativity of Christ temple complex will begin. Taking into account such connection of times and traditions it is appropriate to say: Just as the Temple of Fyodor Ushakov is a spiritual "beacon" for those who have not forgotten God, Yacht Center "Admiral Ushakov" will be a reliable guide for those who have not forgotten a word DREAM, have not lost HOPE and BELIEVE in success of real implementation of LOVE to sail.
A BIT OF ECONOMICS
A presentation of the first product - micro-class yachts ELECTRA 18 took place not long ago. This happened just a year after the company registration and now is launching a mass production of this yacht in the manufactories of the yacht club that was bought from the city at an auction. It is supposed to produce from 24 to 36 boats ELECTRA 18 a year, 25% of market capacity for today. Works on prototype of yacht ELECTRA 43 are close to the end and the boat will be tested soon. It is supposed to produce 3-6 boats a year, amounting to only 7-10% of the market needs. Working out of projects of yacht ELECTRA 32 and catamaran ARKTUR 32 with supposed production 6-12 boats per year was started, which is within 10% of market capacity. Works to expand the productive base and its equipping by modern equipment and technologies are continuing, and in the near future a separate production will be built. This will increase the production volume and expand the range of offers to the market.
In whole an investment to Yacht Centre should be approximately 15-20 million Euros.
Recoupment of such projects lies in the range of 10-12 years. Of course, the crisis will somehow correct the plans, but time for start is the most appropriate. Authors of the project first of all think about yachting and people rather than business itself. And that is why today the Dreams of the Project authors, supported by investor, lead to the fact that YC is developing that yachting can be a LIFESTYLE for many people, and THIS LIFESTYLE CAN BECOME YOURS.
