YC "Admiral Ushakov" everyday life and Euro Certification

Shipyard Yacht Centre "Admiral Ushakov" continues to develop. The first stage of the company development was completed by participation in the World Cup 2010 in August-September in France and our participation in the Boat Show "HISHVA" in Holland, where we introduced our Micro class yacht - ELECTRA 18,

then the second stage of the company development has begun for us. We have begun mass production of yacht Electra 18 for orders from Russia and Europe and the Project catamaran Arktur33.

Some certificates of quality are required to sell yacht Elektra 18 in Europe, such as: certificate of the product, for design and technological documentation, for the manufacturing process in terms of how the shipyard conditions meet the technological requirements. Market in Europe and Holland is very rich in yachts and yachts produced in Holland are high quality yachts. There do not make "consumer goods".

Executive Director of DUTCH CERTIFICATION INSTITUTE Franke G. Hocstra came to Volgodonsk for works on certification, he personally checks everything and holds a certification process of Electra 18 and production in general as а shipyard.

European quality standards and requirements for materials and components, production processes are very serious. As Mr. Hukstra said, for the last 2-3 years many small shipyards in Europe were deprived of the right to produce yachts, because failed to comply with the requirements. We were very alarmed, because we are a young company.

We managed to show Dutch specialists the whole process of yacht Electra 18 birth from forming the deck and the hull to their assembly and appearance of a finished product, what can be seen in the photographs. And also to provide all construction documentation and process lists, to give an opportunity to estimate and control the "climate" conditions and the order of technical process compliance, to check the quality of products.

We are proud to say that Franke Hocstra's visit exceeded all our expectations, and Hocstra himself was quite surprised and pleased by what he saw at the shipyard YC "Admiral Ushakov":

- "... The boat is easy to maneuver and safe, the quality is very high "

- "...Such an order and cleanliness in the premises, accuracy and quality in manufacturing of product and documentation I have not seen for a long time ..."

We were surprised with the attention and care everything was checked: materials, matrix and blank, slides, laminate structure, work on wood and metal. The inspectors were surprised that most of the parts for yachts manufactured by the shipyard itself, what cannot be found in Europe for a long time already. For example, mast and all standing gear, all parts of metal are all made at the shipyard.

Hocstra highly appreciated sea performance of Elektra 18, with which he became acquainted in Holland already. He especially liked the stability of the yacht and large internal volume, readiness of the boat for a long voyage and the quality itself.

We would like to recall that 1.5 years ago ELECTRA 18 already received a Certificate of Conformity to Micro class. Two principal experts: Philippe De Troy (Executive Director of the International Federation of Micro class and the chief measurer) and Andry Maslov (Chairman of Micro class Federation in Russia and our chief measurer) came to Volgodonsk there. The boat was tested for compliance to the class with size, the stability. We did the test with a good margin. We must say that E18 is one of the most stiff and safe in the class: it does not take water, even in open hatches if put with the mast on the water, it does not sink even being completely flooded with water, because it has a positive buoyancy 175 l, the yacht has the largest internal volume.

Features of «ELEKTRA 18»:

  • Weight: 575kg
  • Length: 5,5 m
  • Width: 2,45 m
  • Draft: 0.25/1.1 m centerboard boat
  • Height of mast top from wake line: 8.85 m
  • Sail area: 18.5 m2 (12 mainsail +6.5 staysail)
  • Spinnaker 19.6 m2
  • Gennaker: 26m2
  • Draught: min 575kg
  • Ballast (center board+ballast): 80+120 kg
  • Crew of 4 people
  • Coefficient of buoyancy: 175 l

The boat flooded with water does not sink and does not take water in the hatches when it lies with the mast on the water. Yacht Electra 18 belongs to the category "C" and is suitable for coastal voyages when the wind is of force 6 (up to 17 m/s) and the height of the waves is up to 2 meters.

Rigging 9 / 10. Outboard motor 2.5-5 liters but no more than 23 kg. Upon condition that: the weight of the trailer + yacht is less than 750 kg towage is possible with category "B" in license. The yacht has a bowsprit and completely suitable for both race weekends and long cruising trips. This is your first family cruiser.

The boat well approved itself in the race, although the crew did not show any stable results and was unable to disclose fully the racing potential. Everything will be in future. During the training rides we were able to reach speeds over 10 kt, we think this is not the limit. Retractable bowsprit allows to carry a big gennaker, the yacht is stable on the course and develops a good speed. The quality of the hull is determined by the best material for today, quality of the boat by accessories and quality of finish that allows refer the boat to a "premium" segment. We wanted to make a good and expensive boat and we did.

The buyer will be pleased.
